Everyone's Invited launches campaign on AI Accelerated Sexual Harm: How AI is intensifying sexual harm against children and young people

Research brief from the UK charity Everyone's Invited on how AI-generated content, nudifying apps and AI chatbots are changing children's experiences of sexual harm. It draws on a student survey run over summer 2026, teacher and parent interviews, student focus groups run with UCL researchers, and an analysis of testimonies submitted to the charity's online Safe Space. It reports exposure to AI-generated content, awareness of peers in friendship-like or romantic relationships with chatbots, and a generational understanding gap.

Key Findings

  • 65% of 1,083 student survey respondents see AI-generated or edited content daily or very often; 52% name TikTok as the main place they see it
  • Of 324 students who answered the AI chatbot questions, 62% had heard of someone using a chatbot in a way that feels like a close friendship or romantic relationship; 10% personally knew such a person and 3% said it had happened to them
  • 62% of student respondents say adults do not understand what it is like to grow up with AI; teachers report being unable to keep up and losing authority on the topic
  • An analysis of 106 Safe Space testimonies about digital harms records harassment, low self-esteem, misogyny, sexual violence, threats and blackmail; interviewed parents describe uncertainty about children's first romantic relationships being with chatbots, and one bereavement after a chatbot relationship

Methodology Notes

Student survey (1,083 responses; 324 answered the chatbot module) fielded June to August 2026; a teacher focus group (July 2026); student focus groups with UCL researchers (July 2026); parent interviews; content analysis of 106 testimonies. Recruitment, sampling and age range are not stated; the charity's own community and school contacts are the likely frame, so figures are not population estimates. Published as a post on the charity's Substack dated 15 September 2026; no separate report file. Press coverage cites more than 1,000 children, parents and teachers.
