Usos y percepciones sobre la Inteligencia Artificial Generativa en la educación superior mexicana: Encuesta Nacional [ENIAG 2025] (Resultados)

Key Findings

• — 2,900 institutions took part; 1,539,732 students and 163,259 teachers responded; 1,143,451 student and 133,582 teacher responses were analysed after completion-time filters
• — 9% of responding students (91,935) and 5% of teachers (5,918) reported using generative AI for emotional support; 61% of student emotional-support users are women, 35% men, 4% other genders
• — Among students using it for emotional support: 55.1% sought advice about anxiety, stress, depression or sadness (teachers 63.4%); 41.8% used it to vent or feel heard (58.5%); 41.9% for motivation or encouragement (47.2%); 29.8% to simulate a conversation with someone supportive (36.1%); 24.8% to assess whether they needed psychological help (32.3%)
• — 88% of those who used generative AI for emotional support said it helped
• — Over 60% of students and teachers use generative AI daily; 79% of students use it to generate text, 61% images, 15% code; more than 75% in public institutions are unaware of institutional guidelines

Methodology Notes

Census-style, non-probabilistic online survey open to all higher-education actors across all subsystems (federal and state public universities, Tecnológico Nacional de México, technological and polytechnic universities, private universities, intercultural universities, normal schools); participation in private and federal institutions was about 5% of enrolment; responses filtered by completion time (over 1 minute; over 5 minutes where an initial affirmative answer existed). Emotional-support purpose percentages are of respondents who reported that use.
